Canggu, Indonesia, early morning, on the street. Why does this series impact me more than any other? Because Hinduism inspires and fascinates me. Because photography allows me to capture a unique moment that I choose to immortalize forever.

Putu’s great father cremation

This set is about a cremation ceremony to which I was invited by Putu and his family. In Indonesia's Hindu culture, when a family member dies, he or she is burned the week after the Galungan festival. This festival is celebrated twice a year. Putu's grandfather had died two weeks earlier. That's why his body was left with the family.

Message from Putu.

“Hi Victor. Happy to hear from you again... I would like to say thank you, to be a part of my ceremony. We are ok if you want to use some photos for exhibition. I think you got beautiful captures of that... I really hope to see you again one day in Bali. Best regards from Bali. Good luck.”
